14 Healings of Jesus in the Bible

I love reading the healing stories in the Bible, where Jesus expresses his deep love for people through healing and caring for them.

When we go back and read these life-changing stories, it takes emotional healing to truly see the Father's heart of love through the healings of Jesus

"Whoever has seen me has seen the Father also." -Jesus (John 14:9 GW)

His message was simple, yet the heart must connect with the spirit of God to believe that the Father loves you as Jesus does.

Experiencing and embracing His love is what grows our faith.

What a beautiful revelation!

Here are my favorite 14 healings of Jesus in the Bible to help stir your faith and encounter God's amazing love for you.

1. Jesus Heals an Official’s Son in Capernaum in Galilee. (John 4:46-54 GW)

When Jesus returned to the city of Cana in Galilee, a government official had a son who was dying. He went to Jesus and asked him to travel back home with him to heal him, proving he had the faith to believe.

Jesus told the official, “If people don’t see miracles and amazing things, they won’t believe.”

The official said to him, “Sir, come with me before my little boy dies.”

Jesus told him, “Go home. Your son will live.” The man believed what Jesus told him and left.

While the official was on his way to Capernaum, his servants met him and told him that his boy was alive. The official asked them at what time his son got better. His servants told him, “The fever left him yesterday evening at seven o’clock.” Then the boy’s father realized that it was the same time that Jesus had told him, “Your son will live.”

So the official and his entire family became believers. “

2. Jesus Heals Peter’s Mother-in-Law Who’s in Bed With a Fever. (Matthew 8:14-15)

When Jesus went to Peter’s house, he saw Peter’s mother-in-law in bed with a fever. All Jesus had to do was touch her hand, and the fever was gone. The scripture states that she immediately got up and prepared a meal for him.

3. Jesus Heals the Sick and Oppressed. (Matthew 8:16-17)

In this passage, in the evening, many were brought to Jesus who were possessed by demons and had infirmities. He forced the evil spirits out of people with a command and cured everyone who was sick.

“So what the prophet Isaiah had said came true: He took away our weaknesses and removed our diseases.”

4. Jesus Cleanses a Man With Leprosy. (Matthew 8:1-4)

Here in Matthew, Jesus comes down from the mountain where large crowds follow him. We see a man with a severe skin disease approaches him for healing.

” A man with a serious skin disease came and bowed down in front of him. The man said to Jesus, “Sir, if you’re willing, you can make me clean.”

Jesus reached out, touched him, and said, “I’m willing. So be clean!” Immediately, his skin disease went away, and he was clean. “

5. Jesus Heals a Paralyzed Servant. (Matthew 8:5-13)

 When Jesus went to Capernaum, he was astonished by the great faith of this Roman army officer coming to him for help;

“Sir, my servant is lying at home paralyzed and in terrible pain.”

Jesus said to him, “I’ll come to heal him.”

The officer responded, “Sir, I don’t deserve to have you come into my house. But just give a command, and my servant will be healed.

Jesus was amazed when he heard this. He said to those who were following him, “I can guarantee this truth: I haven’t found faith as great as this in anyone in Israel.”

What you believed will be done for you.” And at that moment the servant was healed.

6. Jesus Heals Paralyzed Man on Stretcher. (Matthew 9:1-8)

In Matthew chapter 9, Jesus crosses the sea and into his own city where they bring him a paralyzed man on a stretcher.

“Jesus saw their faith, he said to the man, “Cheer up, friend! Your sins are forgiven.”

Then some of the experts in Moses’ Teachings thought, “He’s dishonoring God.”

Jesus knew what they were thinking. He asked them, “Why are you thinking evil things? Is it easier to say, ‘Your sins are forgiven,’ or to say, ‘Get up and walk’? I want you to know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins.” Then he said to the paralyzed man, “Get up, pick up your stretcher, and go home.”

So the man got up and went home. When the crowd saw this, they were filled with awe and praised God for giving such authority to humans.”

7. Jesus Heals Paralyzed Hand on the Sabbath. (Matthew 12:9-14)

One of the more controversial healing stories in the Bible is when Jesus visits a synagogue and disrupts the religious people on the Sabbath. Healing a man with a paralyzed hand.

“The people asked Jesus whether it was right to heal on a day of rest—a holy day, so that they could accuse him of doing something wrong.

Jesus said to them, “Suppose one of you has a sheep. If it falls into a pit on a day of rest—a holy day, wouldn’t you take hold of it and lift it out? Certainly, a human is more valuable than a sheep! So it is right to do good on the day of rest—a holy day.”

Then he said to the man, “Hold out your hand.” The man held it out, and it became normal again, as healthy as the other.

The Pharisees left and plotted to kill Jesus.”

8. Jesus Raises a Widow’s Son From the Dead. (Luke 7:11-17)

Jesus went to a city called Nain where he meets a funeral procession. The funeral was for a widow’s only child. When Jesus saw her, he felt sorry for her.

He said to her, “Don’t cry.”

“He went up to the open coffin, took hold of it, and the men who were carrying it stopped. He said, “Young man, I’m telling you to come back to life!” The dead man sat up and began to talk, and Jesus gave him back to his mother.”

9. Jesus Heals the Woman With an Issue of Blood. (Luke 8:43-48)

A woman who had been suffering from chronic bleeding for twelve years was in a large crowd where Jesus was. She was considered incurable by her doctors. When she came up behind Jesus and touched the hem of his clothes, her bleeding stopped immediately.

 Jesus asked, “Who touched me?”

After everyone denied touching him, Peter said, “Teacher, the people are crowding you and pressing against you.”

Jesus said, “Someone touched me. I know power has gone out of me.”

The woman saw that she couldn’t hide. Trembling, she quickly bowed in front of him. There, in front of all the people, she told why she touched him and how she was cured at once.

Jesus told her, “Daughter, your faith has made you well. Go in peace!”

10. Jesus Raises Jairis’ Daughter Back to Life. (Mark 5: 21–24 Luke 8:49-56)

Jairis, an official from the local synagogue begs Jesus to cure his sick daughter. Revealing that not all religious leaders were against him. Someone came in from the synagogue leader’s home and gives them bad news.

He said, “Your daughter is dead. Don’t bother the teacher anymore.”

When Jesus heard this, he told the synagogue leader, “Don’t be afraid! Just believe, and she will get well.”

Jesus went into the house. He allowed no one to go with him except Peter, John, James, and the child’s parents. Everyone was crying and showing how sad they were. Jesus said, “Don’t cry! She’s not dead. She’s just sleeping.”

They laughed at him because they knew she was dead. But Jesus took her hand and called out, “Child, get up!” She came back to life and got up at once. “

11. Jesus Heals Two Blind Men. (Matthew 9:27-31)

Two blind men follow Jesus and shout out to him “Son of David” begging him for mercy.

Jesus went into a house, and the blind men followed him. He said to them, “Do you believe that I can do this?”

“Yes, Lord,” they answered.

He touched their eyes and said, “What you have believed will be done for you!”

12. Jesus Heals a Man Who is Unable to Speak. (Matthew 9:32-34

In this scripture, some people bring a man unable to talk and possessed by a demon to Jesus for healing and deliverance.

But as soon as the demon was forced out, the man began to speak.

The crowds were amazed and said, “We have never seen anything like this in Israel!”

But the Pharisees said, “He forces demons out of people with the help of the ruler of demons.”

13. Jesus Heals the Man at Bethesda. (John 5:1-15)

A man who had been sick for 38 years was lying by the pool of Bethesda. Jesus saw him and knew he had been sick for a very long time.

⇒ Jesus asked the man, “Would you like to get well?”

The sick man answered Jesus, “Sir, I don’t have anyone to put me into the pool when the water is stirred. While I’m trying to get there, someone else steps into the pool ahead of me.”

Jesus told the man, “Get up, pick up your cot, and walk.” The man immediately became well, picked up his cot, and walked.

Later, Jesus met the man in the temple courtyard and told him, “You’re well now. Stop sinning so that something worse doesn’t happen to you.”

The man went back to the Jews and told them that Jesus was the man who had made him well.

14. Jesus Raises Lazarus From the Dead. (John 11:1-45)

Jesus cries in this phenomenal story of healing in the Bible. When he cried, some of the Jews saw how much Jesus loved Lazarus when he expressed his grief. But some of them asked this question;

“Couldn’t this man who gave a blind man sight keep Lazarus from dying?”

Deeply moved again, Jesus went to the tomb. It was a cave with a stone covering the entrance. Jesus said, “Take the stone away.”

Martha, the dead man’s sister, told Jesus, “Lord, there must already be a stench. He’s been dead for four days.”

Jesus said to her, “Didn’t I tell you that if you believe, you would see God’s glory?” So the stone was moved away from the entrance of the tomb.

Jesus looked up and said, “Father, I thank you for hearing me. I’ve known that you always hear me. However, I’ve said this so that the crowd standing around me will believe that you sent me.” After Jesus had said this, he shouted as loudly as he could, “Lazarus, come out!”

The dead man came out. Strips of cloth were wound around his feet and hands, and his face was wrapped with a handkerchief. Jesus told them, “Free Lazarus, and let him go.”

Healing Stories In the Bible

When studying these miraculous healing stories in the Bible, it’s clear that we don’t need to perform for God or people. It’s not about saying all the perfect prayers or following some idea of a religious formula.

Faith in the Healer is what made people well. In many of these instances, it was the faith of a loved one that healed the person who was unaware of God.

As you read about the 14 healings of Jesus in the Bible, let it inspire you to ask for healing too!
